DITCH THE
SHIPPING CONTAINERS!!!
-
OUR
PRIORITY IS TO ENHANCE WEST ST LEONARDS
-
WE DO NOT
WANT A PUB ON THE BATHING POOL SITE!
-
WE SUPPORT
PLATFORM'S ECO ALTERNATIVE
We object to West Marina Beach
Pavilion's (formerly West Marina Lido) plans for a temporary build of 13
converted shipping containers, a vast tower blocking views to Beachey Head for
a restaurant/bar/music venue catering for 300 people for the following reasons:
- Converted container = 1100
lbs.
of TOXIC hazardous waste >>> land fill sites
not ecologically sound
- www.archdaily.com
pros and cons of cargo containers
- www.container-transportation.com
pros and cons container housing
- Poor consultation & disregard to residents/old peoples home/healthy
life style
- No infrastructure supporting 300 people/parking
- Chaos/noise and light pollution/alcohol problems/late night
revelers/broken glass
- Project is too large=loss of green space =NO HEALTHY AMENITIES
- Will affect children, dog walkers, kite flyers
- Far too near a children's
playground
- They will not proceed without alcohol
license - that is their Priority
- This will not enhance West St
Leonards... they are recycled shipping containers
which belong on industrial sites. Temperature control is difficult in both summer
and winter
- The plans do not sit well with the character of West
St Leonards
- Not financially viable, open only at weekends in winter
